Here’s my top 10 list:

1. Advances
2. Protective Intelligence
3. Personnel Profiling
4. Surveillance/Countersurveillance
5. EMT (anything above CPR quals)
6. IED Recognition
7. Introduction to Terrorism
8. Special Security Driving
9. Defensive Tactics
10. Marksmanship

In that order. If you have mastered the first 7 there will be no need for the last three. If you have to use the last 3 you have screwed up bad.

It’s not so much that they will shatter- it’s just that the size they are cut, you will probably shatter your entire hand in the process. STRICTLY for self defense, thank god I have never had to use mine. They are definitely shatterproof, as I have punched walls with them and hurt my hand a bit but not broken it. Repeated use would be ill advised, and when they were originally purchased, the site claimed they would “cut” a person’s face, hence scaring them off and SCARRING them off.
